The lead single “Before Hip Hop”, produced by Hallway Productionz, serves as the album’s opening salvo: a history lesson wrapped in rugged bars, arguing that the ills critics blame on hip-hop long pre-date it. Feature-wise, Man Up includes a standout guest spot from Scarface on “Act My Age” plus a cameo from Quake Matthews on “It’s My Ego 3Mix”. Production throughout the rest of the tracklist appears tightly curated, with the album leaning on thunderous, stripped-back beats that give Cube space to dominate the narrative.
