Producer/rapper, Jermaine Dupri returns with Magic City: An American Fantasy, a project deeply rooted in Atlanta’s nightlife and cultural legacy, especially the influence of the famed Magic City strip club. The album is tied to the STARZ docuseries of the same name, which JD also executive produced. As a veteran producer and storyteller, Dupri curates a roster packed with Atlanta’s legends and rising voices, framing the sound around bass-heavy, unapologetic Southern hip-hop and club anthems. The lead single is “Turn Around”. He enlisted some of your favorites artists like: Ludacris, T.I., 2 Chainz, Killer Mike, Jagged Edge, Lil Scrappy, Lil Jon, Young Dro, Pastor Troy, Rich Homie Quan, Travis Porter, Bow Wow, Quavo, to name few. Production credits so far are anchored by Dupri himself, with help from Bryan-Michael Cox. The features are strong and geographically faithful: the guests are mostly Atlanta legends or homegrown staples, reinforcing the album’s aim to spotlight the city across generations. Stylistically, the project thrives on high energy, ostentatious bass, heavy percussion, and vivid storytelling, ideal for both clubs and late-night listening. If the rest of the album maintains the strength of the singles, Magic City might stand among Dupri’s most personal and culturally specific works. There is, however, still anticipation around track sequencing, additional producers, and more features, as only part of the full tracklist and creative team have been disclosed. Overall, Magic City: An American Fantasy promises to be a vivid tribute to Atlanta’s sonic architecture, its grit, glamour, and grit-driven glamour.
