Rosalía’s fourth studio album, LUX, emerges as a bold and sweeping statement: produced with her at the helm alongside collaborators such as Yves Tumor and Björk, and recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daníel Bjarnason. Early singles include the theatrical “Berghain”, featuring Björk and Yves Tumor, and the preview track “Reliquia”. The album is conceptually organised into four movements, spanning 18 tracks on the physical edition, and features vocals in as many as 13 different languages, underscoring a global, transcendent ambition. The tone is expansive and spiritual: where her previous work leaned on flamenco, pop and reggaetón, here Rosalía navigates orchestral grandeur, liturgy and deep introspection, inviting the listener into something resembling a ritual rather than a standard chart-pop release. What’s remarkable is her willingness to abandon immediate commercial hooks in favour of something daring: swirling strings, choirs, rhythmic flights and vocal flourishes render the album demanding but rewarding. The artistic direction is defined by contrast, between intimacy and spectacle, between multiple languages, between tradition and futurism, culminating in a stronger sense of identity and sovereignty than ever before. In short, LUX is a statement of transformation: Rosalía re-invents her sound, invites the listener to journey with her, and in the process leaves behind the safety of genre for something singular.
