The King of the South is officially back with his brand-new 18-track LP, Kill The King. Released via Grand Hustle LLC and EMPIRE, this versatile project beautifully showcases T.I. exploring themes of bravado, vulnerability, and his enduring musical legacy. The album features a stacked, star-studded lineup of collaborators, including Summer Walker, Anderson .Paak, 2 Chainz, Young Dro, T-Pain, and Jeezy. Behind the boards, a powerhouse team of producers—including Pharrell Williams, Villa Nova, Keepitphilthy, Bans Decastro, and FlexOnDaTrack—crafts a dynamic, experimental sonic backdrop. Coinciding with the rollout, T.I. recently joined fellow collaborator T-Pain on his Expeditiously podcast platform to clear up a long-standing myth about his rap moniker. He clarified that “T.I.” is not an acronym for “targeted individual,” as T-Pain had initially assumed. Instead, it is simply a shorter variation of his original childhood nickname, “Tip.” The adjustment was made early in his career to intentionally differentiate himself from the legendary A Tribe Called Quest artist, Q-Tip. Ultimately, Kill The King serves as a powerful, genre-spanning reminder of T.I.’s permanent and influential position within the music industry.
