Lalah Hathaway‘s ninth album, Made In Chicago, is a deeply personal and soulful tribute to her hometown and roots. The project is expertly produced by Lalah Hathaway alongside her longtime collaborator Phil Beaudreau. Throughout the tracklist, Hathaway collaborates with talented musicians and features spoken-word artist J. Ivy. The album’s rollout is led by standout singles like the reflective “47th Street” (featuring J. Ivy) and the smooth groove “Can’t Let Go”. Musically, the record beautifully blends elements of R&B, jazz, and nostalgia while honoring her foundational upbringing. Every song highlights her trademark pristine vocals and rich, organic instrumentals. Overall, this release further cements her legacy as royalty in contemporary soul music.
