Nine-time Grammy winner Anderson .Paak and Maryland rapper Cordae join forces for their first full-length collaborative album, Heavy Is The Crown. Rooted in a dynamic blend of West Coast funk, golden-era hip-hop, live soul arrangements, and introspective lyricism, the 11-track project explores the double-edged sword of artistic success, financial responsibility, and family legacy. Driven by magnetic lead singles like the upbeat bounce track “A Good Day” and the energetic anthem “Two Tens,” the record maintains a lively, brotherhood-driven chemistry from start to finish. Designed primarily as an intimate dual showcase, the duo keeps features tightly contained, choosing to highlight their natural back-and-forth rap cadences and vocal interplay. The album’s vibrant production landscape is masterfully co-anchored by Anderson .Paak under his musical director persona alongside trusted beatmakers, who layer live drum fills, warm rhodes, infectious basslines, and brass flourishes beneath Cordae’s razor-sharp verses. Moving fluidly between trunk-rattling boom-bap cuts and soulful, melodic grooves, the soundscapes provide a rich canvas for their shared storytelling. Ultimately, Heavy Is The Crown stands as a joyous, highly polished body of work that celebrates artistic synergy while carrying its heavy themes with effortless grace.
